Paediatrics
Trauma informed and neuro-affirming therapy
Service Description
We provide paediatric occupational therapy that supports children and young people to participate in everyday life in ways that feel safe, meaningful, and authentic to them. Our approach is strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and relationship-centred — because development happens through connection, not correction. We honour all forms of communication and recognise that every child’s nervous system, sensory experiences, and ways of engaging with the world are unique. Paediatric OT focuses on supporting participation across home, school, and community environments. This may include: - Daily living activities (dressing, eating, toileting, sleep) - Sensory processing and regulation - Emotional regulation and co-regulation - Play, exploration, and engagement - Fine and gross motor participation - Executive functioning (attention, planning, transitions) - School participation and access - Community and social participation - Handwriting assessments and remediation We look beyond isolated skills to understand how environments, expectations, sensory demands, and support needs impact participation. We offer both formal and informal assessments that are: - Play-based and child-centred - Contextual and functional - Respectful of communication differences - Individualised
